RSS Feed Reference

RSS feeds are structured streams of data designed to expose website content to the world, in a format that other websites and programs can easily consume. The LVSYS platform offers built-in RSS feeds for articles, events and products.

Article RSS Feeds

To build a feed of all your recent articles, use the structure of the following url with this change:

• Replace sample.com with your website domain name.

http://sample.com/?rss=Article

 To build a feed of all a specific category of articles, use the structure of the following url, with these changes:

• Replace sample.com with your website domain name.
• Replace category-name with the name of the article category you wish to create an RSS feed for.

http://sample.com/?rss=Article,category-name

Event RSS Feeds

To build a feed of all your upcoming events, use the structure of the  following url, with this change:

• Replace sample.com with your website domain name.

http://sample.com/?rss=Event

To build a feed of all a specific category of upcoming events, use the structure of the following url, with these changes:

• Replace sample.com with your website domain name.
• Replace category-name with the name of the event category you wish to create an RSS feed for.

http://sample.com/?rss=Event,category-name

Products RSS Feeds

To build a feed of all your products, use the structure of the following url, with this change:

• Replace sample.com with your website domain name.

http://sample.com/?rss=Product

To build a feed of all a specific category of products, use the structure of the following url, with this change:

• Replace sample.com with your website domain name.
• Replace category-name with the name of the product category you wish to create an RSS feed for.

http://sample.com/?rss=Product,category-name

Each LVSYS site comes with several pregenerated notification rules that you're able to activate to notify you about activity on your site. Similar to the email notifications from a form submission, the notification rules will send you an alert based on different triggers to your email or cell phone.

Adding Notification Rules

To add a new notification rule, click on Add New Notification Rule and complete the fields as follows:

• Active - Select to activate the rule or deselect to deactivate it
• Notification Trigger - This is the rule that determines when a notification is sent out. Select one of the triggers from the dropdown menu and the system will send the notification every time the trigger occurs.
• Action - Select the type of notification you'd like to receive. The system currently supports Email and SMS.
• Email Destination - Select the destination for the notification. This will be the email address for email notifications or the phone number for SMS notifications.

Modifying Notification Rules

To modify an existing Notification Rules, click the desired notification rule's link in the list and modify the fields.

Adding Quotes

Click Add New Quote and complete the fields as follows:

• Active – Select to make the quote visible on the website.
• Quote – Enter your quote to display.
• Author – Enter the quote’s author, if desired.
• Publication – Enter the publication source of the quote, if desired.
• Long Quote – Select if the quote is longer than the average. The system will adjust the size accordingly.
• Month – Enter the numeric equivalent of the month the quote should show. Use values 1 – 12.
• Day – Enter the day of the month the quote should show. Use values 1 – 31.

Quotes display automatically, as scheduled.

Modifying Quotes

To modify quotes, click on the desired quote's link in the list screen and modify the fields.

Creating Multi-Day Quotes

Quotes display for a specific day of a specific month. To create multiple day quotes:

• Create a quote for a specific day of a specific month.
• Clone the quote in the Quote Editor or Copy the quote in the List Screen.
• Change the day and/or month in the Quote Editor.
• Save.
• Repeat as needed.

Script Reference

Use HTML or Javascript scripts to add Google AdWords, embedded Google maps or small programs to your website. To add scripts, look in the HTML list of All Tasks and click on the Scripts item. For more information on adding Scripts: Using Scripts.

Short code syntax	( ( script|your script name ) )
Considerations	When calling a script in short code, the name entered in the code must exactly match the script name in Scripts or it will not work.

Note: a video file can be located either in the pub/video (for Videos) or the pub/doc (for Documents) folders. The software first looks inside the Video folder.

Files you link to from your website are managed and accessed in one central location at http://yourdomain.com/pub/doc/yourfile. Please note that your URL is case sensitive.

Web Page Parameters

Web Page Parameters General Considerations: 

• Parameters must be entered with the proper syntax, names and spelling or they will not work.
• When entering parameters, do not use spaces around the equals sign.
• To connect two or more parameters together, use an ampersand (&) symbol. Do not use spaces around the ampersand.
• Ensure the module item’s attribute name is spelled the same as in the system – it must be exact or it will not work.
